Save Powers

About James Powers:

James Powers is scheduled to graduate from Harvard this Spring having received the OFA Council Prize for the Arts. He grew up in Greystones, Ireland, where he excelled as an academic and an artist. James' parents are artists as well, his mother a woodworker and his father a painter and computer graphics designer. After graduation this June, James plans to continue painting and making art in Minnesota.

This winter James was court ordered to pay for damages done to several trees planted in front of the Lampoon building. A student still dealing with the hefty cost of tuition, it is very difficult for James to cover these damages which are in excess of $10,000.

How you can help:

Please consider making a donation to the Save Powers Fund to help raise the money necessary to cover the cost of these trees. Several friends have already stepped forward and contributed their time and money to help ease this burden. Nonetheless, James is still short and needs all the help he can get. Donate through a secure Paypal account (Suggested donation is $100, but please donate what you feel comfortable with. No amount is too large or too small)

Aftermath:

Inspite of the damage done, James hopes to leave a positive, lasting legacy on the island (called Lampoon Plaza). He is currently working with the Gardening Commission and the City of Cambridge on an improved design for the island that will include a statue of some sort, and hopefully a 'nesting castle' for birds with a fountain.

Any support you can provide will be greatly appreciated by James and his friends and family.
